The Boston Bruins have traded a 2nd round pick in 2011 NHL Draft for Ottawa Center Chris Kelly. Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli is familiar with Kelly from when he was an assistant for The Senators. Chiarelli spoke on the 30 Year Old Center...
"It was important to get this one done. We need help in a couple of areas and this is one of the areas", Chiarelli continued, "He's a smart player and a responsible player, he can play up the middle and play the wing, but he's a natural center."
Kelly (on being traded to Boston):
"It's pretty tough to get traded. It's my first time, but these things happen, especially the way things have gone this year," Kelly said. "I get an opportunity to play in the postseason and an opportunity to go, hopefully, deep in the playoffs."
Chris Kelly has had double digit points and assists in each other past 6 seasons. He currently has 12 goals and 11 assists with The Senators, those would rank 6th and 11th in Boston.
The Senators will host Kelly and his new Bruins teammates on Friday night.
