Carl Crawford Struggling, Still Contributing

Through the first 7 games there are plenty of players underperforming for Boston, Carl Crawford is one of them. Carl is 4-28 to open the season and has already batted 3rd, 7th, 2nd, and 1st in the lineup. Over his career it's been well known that Crawford doesn't like hitting leadoff, but that's where he was in the Home Opener against New York, and whether it was due to the change or not Boston got their first win. When asked about Carl responded how you'd expect him to, "whatever they want me to do i'll do it, I just want to win."

Despite his slow start at the plate Crawford was flashing the glove at Fenway Park. CC's first big grab was a sliding catch for the 1st out of the inning, he had to put on the jets to get there but it was nothing you haven't seen Carl do before. The catch in the 7th inning might have been one of the tougher grabs you'll be asked to make in Fenway. The ball was popped up and was moving towards foul territory, Crawford had to catch it along the wall with it coming about a foot away from either landing in the stands or grazing off the side of wall, Carl grabbed it to end the inning.

Crawford's bat will come around, as will the whole Red Sox team, but it's a nice bonus knowing that even though he's contributing very little at the plate he's still helping the team with his defense. Just wait until he's doing both.
