Daisuke & Sox Look To Move Up Standings

Right now the Boston Red Sox are sitting at last place in the American League East. Ahead of them are the Yankees, Blue Jays, Orioles, and Rays. Boston will enter tonight's game 3.5 games back of 1st, and just a half game behind Baltimore and Tampa. After starting the season 2-10 the Sox have won 6 out of their last 7.

How Terry Francona's starters perform is usually an indication of whether or not Boston wins. After a couple slow starts Jon Lester and Josh Beckett have each righted the ship, Clay Buchholz and Daisuke Matsuzaka have been wildly inconsistent, and John Lackey has been completely horrendous.

Tonight's game will fall in the hands of Daisuke Matsuzaka. Is Daisuke's last start he gave up only 1 run in 7 innings vs. Toronto, it was an excellent performance. The problem with Matsuzaka is that in his previous start he gave up 7 runs in only 2 innings against Tampa. Manager Terry Francona will no doubt be looking for Daisuke to build on his previous performance, the only problem is that no one ever knows with Matsuzaka Boston will get... not even Daisuke.
