Would New England Want Asante Back?
When Nnamdi Asomugha chose The Eagles over the Jets, it could have helped New England in more ways than one. Not only would New York not have their dream duo of Revis and Nnamdi, but with Philadelphia already having Samuel and the newly acquired Dominic Rodgers-Cromartie, they could afford to move one of their superstar Corner Backs.
ESPN's Adam Schefter has reported that The Eagles asking price for Samuel is either a 1st rounder or two 2nd rounders.
New England has an extra 1st rounder from New Orleans. They also have two 2nd rounders in this years draft.
Samuel has been named to the Pro-Bowl for 4 straight seasons, but hasn't been an All-Pro since his contract year with the Pats. He's missed only 6 games in 3 years in Philadelphia, and has picked off 20 balls over that same time span.
The only problem is that Asante has a reputation of being a free lancer. In a young defense who's being taught the value of "doing it right", would a risk taking, big personality, really be the right player to add?
But then again, he is a Top 10 corner in the league, who paired with Devin McCourty could make some serious plays...especially with this revamped attacking New England D-Line.
